Bristol Metropolitan Academy pupils return for their first competitive first post-lockdown match on court for the year 11 National Champions, to be live-streamed by boomsatsuma students, Thursday 20th May.

During lockdown boomsatsuma brought Bristol Metropolitan Academy players together for virtual games on gaming consoles, live-streaming the competitive NBA2K20 games. The players are desperate to get back on court for a live match, but lockdown restrictions mean that no fans can come in to support the team. boomsatsuma students are stepping forward from the Sports Media and Creative Digital Media diplomas to film, commentate and live-stream the game, so that friends, families and fans can tune in to enjoy the moment.

The game featuring year 11 national champions will be live-streamed on Twitchtv/boomsatsuma_

Live stream from 7pm for 7.20 Tip-Off

boomsatsuma project manager, Luke Fazackerley, commented:

“Our strong links with Bristol Metropolitan Academy goes back many years, so we’re acutely aware how detrimental the lockdown has been to these young players, whose sporting development as a team was halted. It’s going to be a very magical moment for all the players returning to court and that makes it special for our students to be capturing it and live-streaming it to the audience who can’t be there.”

boomsatsuma is also a kit sponsor of the Bristol Metropolitan Academy year 9 team, who will also see a return to competitive live sporting action this week.

Tom Hooper, Head of PT at Bristol Metropolitan Academy, said:

“The boys are very pumped up to be getting back on court this week. It’s been a long time coming and it means so much for them to be getting back on court for a meaningful game. Hopefully, the first of many back on the road to compete for, and hopefully retain, their national champions status. Once again boomsatsuma’s support is brilliant: live streaming is a great way of connecting with the fans, until we are allowed to let them back courtside to cheers the team on.”
