Media students from boomsatsuma have worked with the NHS to create a series of videos, forming part of a campaign to motivate young people to get vaccinated.
Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) COVID-19 Vaccination Programme anticipated potential concerns from young people aged 18-25 about having the COVID-19 vaccine. They asked boomsatsuma media students to create a series of films made ‘by young people, for young people’, that would engage and encourage young people to book their vaccination when invited.
The boomsatsuma students made a series of short films that show a young person having their vaccination, but rather than being given the vaccine, they are injected with memories of all the things the vaccine will enable them to do again. The films are being boosted and shared organically across Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Twitter under the campaign.
The local NHS Vaccination Programme anticipated potential reticence from younger people to be vaccinated. Realising the capabilities of the media students adjacent to their office, they contacted Programme Lead at boomsatsuma Reece Morrell and arranged the production of videos to help engage and encourage young people to book their coronavirus vaccine.
The video was ready ahead of the rollout for under 30’s vaccination, 9th June, with the social media campaign launching on Wednesday 9th June at 10am, using the hashtag #DoingItFor.
Clare Armour, Programme Lead for the Covid-19 Vaccination Programme, said:
“The students came up with a brilliant concept for the videos. I can’t thank them enough for their enthusiasm and professionalism in delivering a high quality standard video on message, which I am confident help engage the younger generation.”
boomsatsuma student, Isaac Preddy worked on the project, he stated:
“This was an amazing opportunity that I could not pass up. It has been interesting working with a client again as due to national lockdowns we have not been able to do so as frequently. I have enjoyed the creative process to go from the client brief to the finished product, and I also like that we are creating something that our peers may see online. Working with an organisation like the NHS is an incredible achievement and I can't wait for it to be released and see the final product.”
Reece Morrell added:
"As soon as the NHS approached us with the idea, we were excited to offer our support and this collaborative project is a shining example of the real-world experiences we strive to share with our students. The student team has been given an empowering opportunity to play their part in the fight against coronavirus and they feel proud to be a part of it.”
Over 68 million people have already had their first dose. The campaign videos will be launched across social media using #DoingItFor alongside this to help make sure as many people as possible accept their offer of the vaccine.
