Samuel Fordham, course leader for boomsatsuma’s new BA (Hons) Documentary Photography and Print, will see his ‘C-R92/BY’ project showcased at the Photographic Museum of Humanity’s live exhibition, PHmuseum Days Photo Festival, in Bologna, 23-26 September, 2021.

Sam is one of three ‘emerging photographers’ to be selected from 700 entries received by the organisers, whose work will be physically on show alongside other new works from international photographers.
PHmuseum's Curator Rocco Venezia comments on C-R92/BY:
"Samuel's project is a meditation on long-distance emotional relationships, which are held up thanks to technology and how severe migratory policy from certain countries affect them. He combines photographs, documents and testimonies from others, which are intertwined with his own story. Starting from his experience that examined his wife facing deportation from UK, Fordham wishes to give voice to the suffering of families who find themselves in such circumstances amplified by the rise of extreme nationalism in the era of Brexit. Furthermore, this project generates a deeper reflection on a world where more and more of our presence is given by two-dimensional images shared on screens while new forms of relationships are introduced, mostly characterised by physical absence."
Samuel states:
“It’s a real honour to have my project on display at such a prestigious international photography festival. This project is very close to my heart, drawing on personal family experiences, and I hope its imagery and messaging prompt people to consider the issue.
“September is set to be an exciting month, as we’ll also be welcoming the first cohort of undergraduates to boomsatsuma’s new BA (Hons) Documentary Photography and Print Degree. I’m looking forward to working with a group of talented incoming students on this new course. We are close to being at capacity, with only a few spaces still available through the clearing process.”
