An Introduction.
Develop technical art and skills in 3D games technologies, and prepare for a range of careers in the creative industries.
We adopt an applied approach to help you build a deep understanding of the contexts, tools, and workflows that underpin the production of compelling assets for games, virtual production and extended reality (XR) applications. You’ll be guided by experienced teaching staff and industry professionals with real-world experience of workflow planning, character creation, environment design and more.
Built with insight from industry, this course supports the development of professional skills through live briefs delivered by real clients. We’ll help get you ready for a career as a creative, technical professional with critical knowledge of game art and virtual production techniques, and well rounded communication and co-creation skills.

The Structure.
We introduce you to the concepts, tools and techniques that underpin game art. Modules incorporate studio work, project design and development, collaborative working, and deep-dive studying - each helping you gain a production-led understanding of the functions and effects of game art in a fast-moving creative landscape.
Across the course you’ll develop creative thinking and problem-solving skills, explore the emerging fields of XR and virtual production, and sharpen your artistic flair and technical proficiency. Your efforts will contribute to a portfolio that showcases your skills, range and creative voice to potential employers and clients.

The Space.
You’ll be studying in Tobacco Factory, Bristol - a creative and innovative hub in the heart of the city. The building is one of the last survivors from the vast Imperial Tobacco site; saved from demolition by architect George Ferguson.
Today, it is a multi-purpose building that is home to not only boomsatsuma Degrees, but also a lively Cafe Bar, Makers Market, meeting spaces, the offices of several creative organisations, a performing art school. The building is also home to Tobacco Factory Theatres – one of the most exciting performance venues in the country.
